Lin Felton alias Quik was born in New York in 1958. An active member of the RTW Crew, he worked alongside Basquiat, Keith Haring, Seen and Futura, imposing his four letter tag on the trains of the big city. In the 80s, he was one of the most determined writers to bury the grey railways under the colour of bombs.

Quik is one of those artists who infused the European urban scene with all the energy of the original graffiti culture. His style deploys a satirical, almost arrogant image that draws certain influences from comedy, and his style goes beyond writing. Although the paintings raise fundamental socio-political criticisms, they are still strongly autobiographical. It is in this interplay between global and personal issues that Quik’s work finds its depth: he deals with African-American history and plays with it in an ambiguous way.
