Born in 1964, Jean-François Bollié is a French sculptor. The artist uses a creative process that consists in first tearing away the material to better reconstitute it. Simple and pure lines and bright colors are the characteristics of his work. His recurring theme, the human being, is restricted to its simplest appearance in order to preserve only the harmony of the lines. Through this removal of details, Jean-François Bollié addresses universal and conceptual themes such as love, human thought or reflection. He is particularly inspired by his daily life, which he spends on the beaches of the South of France, alone to reflect on human life. His work “la Plongeuse” has become a symbol on the whole French Riviera, being exhibited on the seaside from Nice to Cagnes.
